The Mid West Regional Drugs & Alcohol Forum invites applications for once-off Small Grant funding from Community, Cultural, and Voluntary groups that are not eligible for funding from another source. Projects must be based in the Mid-West area (Clare, Limerick City & County and North Tipperary). Applications for grants (min. €500 & max. €2,000) should be directly relevant to the MWRDAF Strategic Plan and to the National Drugs Strategy.

The funding can be used for the following types of programmes or activities which compliment the aims of the Mid West Regional Drugs & Alcohol Forum:

  • Developing and delivery of Programmes/Initiatives for young people with a strong emphasis on Drug and Alcohol awareness information, education and support
  • Community based groups addressing or exploring Substance Misuse issues
  • Family Support Groups dealing with substance related issues

Due to past demand to support drug & alcohol free events, funding to these types of projects may have to be limited by the appraisal committee.

MWRDAF Treatment & Rehabilitation Funding Pool 2016

The MWRDAF has available to it, a one-off funding pool for treatment initiatives and rehabilitation initiatives for substance misusers in the Midwest Region.

The total amount available in the fund just exceeds €30,000. Applications will be accepted up to a maximum of €10,000 and a minimum of €5,000.

Applications will be assessed on the following criteria: Agencies applying for this funding pool must have a track record in the area. The initiatives must fit with the interim treatment & rehabilitation objectives in the National Drugs Strategy and those of the Mid West Regional Drugs & Alcohol Forum, meeting identified needs/ gaps. The objectives of the initiative and how it will be achieved must be clearly stated. Funding under this pool must be spent by Dec 31st 2015. Funding cannot be applied retrospectively.

Applications will be considered by the MWRDAF Project Appraisal Committee and recommendations made to the MWRDAF.

Education Bursary Fund

Funding is available from groups/organisations towards the costs of running courses (certified and non-certified) related to alcohol and/or drugs issues.

The MWRDAF Education Bursary Fund 2016 is available to assist Community Groups, Voluntary & Statutory Organisations, Third level Colleges or Universities funding towards the costs of running training courses related to alcohol and/or drugs issues.

Criteria

  •  Course content must address one or all of the following;
    • Drug and or Alcohol issues.
    • Facilitation Skills Training to enable participants to deliver effective drugs and/or alcohol education.
    • Personal and Skills Development as part of a clearly outlined progression path.
  • Courses will only be part-funded.
  • Host organisation must have proven capacity to deliver course and manage funding within the required timeframe.
  • Course must commence no later than November 2016.
  • Host organisation must commit to completing the summary evaluation of the course and return this to the MWRDAF along with copies of participant evaluations and evidence of receipted expenditure in line with approved application. Application forms can be downloaded from: www.mwrdtf.ie
